Cube in Melbourne by INDO the Artist
It's rare for artists to paint in the studio all the time, When ever I'm in need of inspiration, I take to the streets. Always pre plan the artwork, the location & have a day in mind. If not, I have a few spots I know are hidden and I can paint with my eyes focused on the art, not the police, security, or hero duche looking to make a citizens arrest. Usually those people arn't trying to help the world, they just have something to prove, and in doing so, get themselves hurt.
Generally, most people are intimidated wont say shit and keep to themselves.
Deep down, they presume your either a junkie who will rob them, or they simply dont give a shit because neighbours starts in an hour. For anyone reading this who's starting out, you can go one of both ways - either dress in black - look as intimidating as possible, if they see you - run towards them with your hoodie. 9/10 times, they will sprint.
The alternative is dress like a security guard, with a bright vest.
Ever seen the movie "Catch me if you can?" with leonardo decaprio, this is what I'm Talking about.
A street artist friend of mine once dressed as a council worker, in the middle of the city, during peak hour, painted a massive mural in broad day light, because he looked legal - and didn't act suspicious, the general public presumed he was doing his job, he was never approached & got away with it.
